Applications for the Queensland Government Accessible Tourism Elevate Fund are now open. The Fund will support Queensland’s tourism and events industry to enhance their accessible tourism experiences.
The Access Starter Grant will provide $5,000 in funding to support eligible Queensland tourism or events organisations at the start of their accessible tourism journey to get the basics right through access audits, development of accessibility plans and statements, improved communication and information sharing, digital and website accessibility, staff training and education.
Eligible applicants do not have to co-contribute to the cost of approved activities, however successful applicants will be required to cover eligible expenses above the approved funding amount, and all ineligible costs. Applicants are strongly encouraged to engage suitably qualified consultants in undertaking the activity/activities.

Eligible Projects under this Fund include disability awareness and inclusion training and coaching for staff. As such GetAboutAble is proposing delivery of an Accessibility Training Program to your staff and stakeholders, either online or in person, to build the knowledge and skills of staff to help your organisation better meet the needs of the 1 in 5 Australians with disability and tap into the $13.5 billion accessible tourism market. The training program would cover the following topics:
- Introduction to Accessibility and Inclusion
- How to provide Good Accessibility Information
- Inclusive Welcome and Customer Service
The cost of this training program ($5000) would be covered in full by the grant funding, and GetAboutAble would provide template responses to the Grant Application questions to make the application process as seamless as possible.
